MEETO is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable data protection laws and Google Play policies. We disclose how we collect, use, and share personal information in a transparent manner​ support.google.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we gather, why we gather it, how we use and share it, and how you can control or delete your information.

Information We Collect

We limit data collection to what is needed for the app’s core functionality​ support.google.com. Specifically, we collect:

  • User-Provided Profile Information: Details you enter such as display name, profile picture/avatar, optional demographic info (e.g. gender preference, age), and any other profile fields you choose to fill.

  • Device and Technical Information: Data about your device and app, including operating system version, device model, hardware information, unique device identifiers, and app version.

  • Network Information: Connection data such as your IP address, internet or mobile network details, and general location information derived from your network connection.

  • Usage Statistics: Information on how you use the app (features accessed, session lengths, interaction history, etc.) collected through analytics to improve performance and user experience.

  • Crash and Diagnostic Reports: Error logs, crash reports, and performance data that help us detect bugs and improve stability.

  • Advertising ID: The Android Advertising ID – a unique, user-resettable identifier for advertising purposes support.google.com. We use this ID to deliver personalized ads; you can reset or disable it in your device settings.

  • Purchase and Transaction Data: If you make in-app purchases, we receive transaction details (such as receipt information and purchase amounts) from the payment processor (e.g. Google Play Billing). We do not directly collect credit card or banking information.


How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data only to provide, maintain, and improve the Meeto service. For example:

  • Providing and Improving Services: We use your data to enable video calls and matching features (e.g. gender filters) and to optimize app performance. By analyzing usage patterns and crash reports, we fix bugs and enhance the user experience.

  • Personalization: We use your profile details and preferences to personalize your experience (such as showing you the preferred gender of users and tailoring in-app content).

  • Analytics: We employ analytics tools (like Firebase Analytics) to understand app usage and improve features. This data is aggregated and anonymized wherever possible.

  • Advertising: We may use your Advertising ID to serve targeted ads based on your interests. Ads are delivered by third-party networks (e.g. Google AdMob); you can reset your Advertising ID at any time to opt out of personalized ads ​support.google.com.

  • Account Management and Communication: We use your information to manage your account (including purchase history) and to communicate with you. This includes sending transactional messages (e.g. purchase receipts), service announcements, and responding to your inquiries or support requests.


Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the ways described here:

  • Service Providers: We share data with trusted third-party vendors that perform services on our behalf (such as analytics providers, cloud hosting, customer support, advertising platforms, and payment processors). These providers are contractually obligated to keep data secure and use it only for specified purposes.

  • Legal Compliance and Safety: We may disclose your information to comply with legal obligations (such as law enforcement requests, court orders, or regulatory requirements) or to protect our legal rights, safety, or property, or that of others.

  • Consent and User-Controlled Sharing: We will not share your personal data for other purposes without your consent. For example, if you choose to invite friends or connect with others, you authorize the sharing of the necessary information for that feature.

  • Business Transfers: In the event that MEETO is sold, merges with another company, or is reorganized, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will ensure any successor entity adheres to this Privacy Policy. We comply with policies allowing data transfer in a merger or acquisition, with notice to users​ support.google.com.

  • No Sale of Personal Data: We do not rent or sell your personal information to any third party ​support.google.com.


Your Privacy Rights

You have rights under data protection laws concerning your personal information. In particular:

  • EU/UK GDPR Rights: Individuals in the European Union, EEA, and United Kingdom have the right to access their personal data (obtain a copy)​ ico.org.uk, correct or update inaccurate data​ ico.org.uk, and request erasure of data (“right to be forgotten”) ​ico.org.uk.

  • California CCPA/CPRA Rights: California residents have similar rights. You may request to know what categories of personal information we collect, have collected, or disclosed; request deletion or correction of your personal data; and opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information ​oag.ca.govoag.ca.gov. (Note: we do not sell personal data, but you have the right to opt out if that were ever to change.)

  • Exercising Rights: To exercise any of these rights, contact us as described below. We will respond to verifiable requests according to applicable law (typically within one month) and provide the requested information or take action (such as correcting or deleting data) when required.


Account and Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your Meeto account at any time. To delete your account and all associated personal data, please follow the instructions on the provided account deletion page. Once your deletion request is submitted, we will remove your personal information from our active systems. (Please note that we may retain certain information for legal purposes or as required to comply with accounting, legal, or regulatory obligations.)

Children’s Privacy

Meeto is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years old. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it. If you are between 13 and 17, you may only use the app with adult supervision, and any registration or payment must be done by an adult.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit (for example, using HTTPS) support.google.com. We also use secure storage practices and access controls on our servers. Access to personal data is limited to authorized personnel who need it to perform their duties. We regularly review and update our security practices (including risk assessments and audits) to help ensure the continued security of user information.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We and our partners may use cookies, web beacons, or similar local storage technologies within the app to improve functionality. For example, cookies or local app storage may be used to remember your login session or preferences. We also use third-party analytics services (such as Google Analytics for Firebase) that may collect information about your device and app usage. These third parties may use their own cookies or identifiers (including the Advertising ID mentioned above) to help track usage and serve analytics or ads. You can typically disable cookies in your device or browser settings, and you can reset or limit your Advertising ID at any time through your device’s settings.

App Permissions

To provide its features, Meeto requires certain permissions:

  • Camera: Needed to capture your video during a call.

  • Microphone: Needed to capture your audio during a call.

  • Storage (Photos/Media): Needed to read or save media (for example, to upload a profile picture or download received content).

  • Push Notifications: Used to notify you of incoming calls, messages, or important app updates.

  • Phone State: Used to detect when a cellular call comes in so we can pause the video chat and prevent conflicts.

  • System Alert Window (Draw Over Other Apps): Used to display an incoming call notification or overlay so you can accept or reject calls even if you are in another app.

We only request these permissions to support the features you use in the app.

Reporting and Moderation

Our community relies on users to help keep the app safe. You can block or report other users at any time if you encounter harassment, inappropriate content, or violations of our Terms of Service. All reports are reviewed by our moderation team. Human moderators (not automated systems) evaluate reports and take appropriate action (such as warning or banning users) according to our content guidelines.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time (for example, when we add new features or when legal requirements change). If we make material changes, we will notify you via in-app notification or email, and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of Meeto after such changes indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
